Stay Gold

When the temperature drops it's easy to quickly become disenchanted with winter and find yourself scrolling through old summer photos longing for a little warmth! Although crisp, sunny winters mornings are beautiful, it's lovely to be able to bring some of that sunshine inside and transform your home ready for the arrival of spring. It seems that the humble pineapple has been undergoing a bit of a renaissance at the moment, and recently they have been cropping up everywhere from fashion, to light fittings to quirky prints (we even have a gorgeous pineapple Valentine's card!) which we think has been long overdue. It has become an emblem of hospitality and 'welcome' once in the home, which we think is pretty lovely and even more reason for this piece to be the newest addition to every follower-of-fashion's home. Great to hold your jewellery and trinkets, or as a fun sweet container that will definitely take centre stage at any party! These sweet little vases are perfect for holding a single stem or a couple of sprigs of foliage, perfect for scattering around the house when the first few flowers start to come out for spring.

 What better symbol that spring is (optimistically) on the way than a beautiful bunny?! This gorgeous pot oozes elegance and has a timeless feel that means in would look perfect amongst any kind of decor, from rustic farmhouse kitchen storage, to smooth minimalist living room decoration, or even a little trinket box for a (very careful) child's bedroom. New Beginnings

Firstly, a very Happy New Year to all of our lovely customers! We hope you had a peaceful, relaxing time with much food and drink being consumed at regular intervals. After all the jollity, however, there often seems to be a certain amount of slovenliness associated with the beginning of January - one too many mince pies perhaps? Or multiple glasses of mulled wine making you feel a little worse for wear? Not that there is anything wrong with some over-indulgence, in fact at Christmas it's practically encouraged! It's always nice to get back to work with a feeling of a fresh start, however and whilst you're attempting the new fad diet of the year, why not treat yourself to something that will make those early starts and dark evenings a little easier to bear...

Is it just me or do houses look a little sad with the absence of fairy lights and candles after the packing away of the Christmas decorations? Well pine no more for something to replace them as this wonderful canvas will fill that space not just post Christmas, but all year round! It's just as important to continue spreading the love after Christmas as it is during the holidays and how better to show it than with these amazing lights?! We've featured them on the blog before but after a flurry of interest over Christmas we are very happy to say that we just got a new delivery today and the red and rust are back in stock! Simple and wonderfully effective, treat yourself or your loved ones and show them you care. A little less costly but equally as sentimental, a spontaneous card is always a perfect way to let someone you love know you are thinking of them. Finally, this Wizard of Oz print is the perfect addition to any book lovers home (there's no place like it!) and sits perfectly anywhere from the smallest of studio flats to the biggest of barn conversions! The sentiment is still the same.

Dashing Through the Faux

 If there's one trend that's stuck around for a very long Autumn/Winter season, it's fur. Since the 19th century it has been seen as a luxury item, only adorned on the rich and famous and as a sign of their wealth, but since the introduction of faux fur it is now seen on all manner of trendy folk at a much more affordable price! Imitation furs instantly jazz up any outfit and when the temperature drops, as it has drastically done today, there is nothing more comforting than the softest wrap around your neck or a toasty hat on your head!

These fur stoles are the perfect addition to any outfit, adding a softness to an edgy leather jacket, creating seamless sophistication to a tailored camel coat or simply pop over a jumper for a vintage inspired look on those rare warmer winter days! 

These collars are equally beautiful, with sweet ribbon ties for a pretty detail. Not dissimilar to the stoles, these collars would look gorgeous with any jacket or coat for a glamorous scarf alternative, but they would also look great with a pretty velvet or sequined dress to add a unique touch to your party outfit, or pop on top of a plain shirt or dress to add a festive touch.

If there is one thing better than a fur hat, it's a fur headband. Much more practical, equally as warm and accommodating for a range of hairstyles (we've all add the ponytail/hat trauma at least once in winter). Available in a range of colours. these funky headbands are wonderfully thick and cosy and still right on trend for those of us who aren't brave enough to venture in to the full fur hat trend just yet! Now how could I write about fur without including the classic fur hat? Made fashionable by Russian elite, the fur hat is now a worldwide trend and our selection are no exception to the trend. This white fur hat gives a gorgeous nod to Cruella de Ville in the most harmless, animal friendly way! White fur is the perfect winter statement, with images of White Christmas springing to mind, but if it's not your thing, we have a selection of darker colours for a more practical day time style.

I'll Be Home for Christmas

  There, we've said it, Christmas is (almost) officially upon us! It's time to deck the halls, jingle those bells and prepare for the festive season. It seems like the excitement starts earlier and earlier every year, but with the rapid temperature drop and the lights up in Brighton, it's hard not to get excited when all you want to do it curl up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and watch 'Elf'... (too early?) However, if the thought of present shopping and festive films makes you squirm, to get you in the Christmas spirit we thought we'd show you a fraction of our beautiful decorations in store.

Small enough to store away until December, these little beauties will have you wishing it was time to put up the tree already just to show them off. These elegant and classic decorations are perfect for any tree - theme or no theme - as the antiqued gold finish can look vintage or contemporary however you choose to style them! Mix with reds and greens for a failsafe festive feel, or add blues, copper and white for a nod to Scandinavian style.

 These silver decorations have a gorgeous ethereal quality to them and look as though they have just come from a fairytale set! They have a similar distressed look as the gold but the bright silver creates a more modern look - subtle enough to have up all year round without looking like a Christmas fanatic! Add clear glass and white for a clean snowscape look, or add a colour pop to your tree with pink, cobalt blue and greens.

Brighton Beautiful

Brighton has a distinctly unique feel about it that doesn't seem to found anywhere else and has you pining for it after too long spent away. Whether you're just visiting, studying or a born and bred Brightonian, it has a charm that pulls you back however short your stay, which is why we think it inspires so many people through art, theatre and music and we have a little slice of that talent in the shop at the moment with some brilliant Brighton artwork.

Lover of the Light

Now the nights are drawing in, the days are definitely getting colder and October seems to have made its mind up about the weather, it's time to get excited about autumn proper. This means bounteous mugs of hot chocolate, chunky knits and beautiful cosy lighting. As we mentioned in a previous post, the change in season is the perfect opportunity for a little redecorating, whether it's a few changes here and there or a completely new look set for Christmas and we have just the thing that will make you clear a space immediately for these wonderful additions to the shop.

First up is this beautiful metal 'Love' sign, £60. This sign has a gorgeous retro feel to it, reminiscent of fun fair signs in bold neons and flashing lights, although designed in a much more sophisticated and contemporary way. Gift Ideas: a little autumn inspiration.

Tis the season of the birthday! It seems like lots of us are celebrating another year this season (myself included!) and it seemed appropriate to compile a post bursting with inspiration for those of us struggling to get those last minute gifts. Autumn always feels like a new start, the change in season bringing change in the air and such is the case for many moving house around this time of year and, birthday or not, a house warming gift is a thoughtful and personal way of welcoming your loved ones in to their new abode. The Minimalist
Present buying is always toughest when the receiver seems to have everything, or has their style so exacted that it's tricky to find something to blend seamlessly in with their long perfected look. However much we ladies try and deny the streotype that we have a little thing for bags, it seems that there is a definite satisfaction we have in finding the perfect sized washbag, make up bag or handbag. Now I'm not talking the obsession with designer bags popularised in 'Sex and the City', but the number of purses, totes and travel bags that seem to accumulate over the years before finsing 'the one'. Thankfully, here at Rose Hill we have plenty of choice to meet all of your present buying needs! In need of Indulgence
The first month back at work can be tiring and the change in temperature can bring on those dreaded winter lurgies, so why not treat someone to a little luxury for a few moments of rest and relaxtion.
